Acupuncture in Scotts Valley, CA

Solis care hero

Though the Solis Scotts Valley location is new to the neighborhood, the Solis Team is not new to the field of acupuncture. We worked for ten years establishing ourselves as the go-to clinic for pain relief in Capitola, before opening our second location in Scotts Valley. We brought our experienced team of practitioners with us.

The Solis Group is comprised of the best pain specialists in the acupuncture industry. Each acupuncturist goes through rigorous orthopedic training to become a practitioner at Solis. We combine the best of Traditional Chinese Medicine and cutting-edge research, to get our patients relief. Our practitioners are professional, compassionate, and thorough. Our treatment methods are proven by research, driven by results, and enjoyed by our patients. We are in-network with most major insurance providers and offer a benefit check as a courtesy to all new patients.

Frequently Asked Questions

Acupuncture is a method of healing that utilizes sterile, stainless steel, disposable needles to treat various disharmonies.  The main objectives of an acupuncture treatment are to:

  • Reduce pain and inflammation, release contracted muscle tissue, increase micro-circulation, support stem cell proliferation, affect neurotransmitter activity, and promote healing to damaged tissues.
  • Alleviate symptoms such as nausea, anxiety, or dizziness.
  • Strengthen the body’s immune system.
  • Balance the integral functions of the internal organs, making for a unified, integrated, healthy person.

The World Health Organization recognizes that acupuncture can be used to effectively treat over 200 common clinical disorders, including- sports injury, chronic pain, arthritis, stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, indigestion, acid reflux, IBS, common cold cough, and flu, PMS, irregular or painful menstruation, menopause, sexual dysfunction, UTI, asthma, allergies, migraines, hypertension, hormonal imbalances, addiction, and post-traumatic stress.

Electro-acupuncture has become increasingly popular over the last 20 years. Although the effects of acupuncture are still not fully understood, research has made some significant headway. Research has shown a strong correlation between electro-acupuncture and anti-inflammatory effects, the increase of blood and lymphatic flow, and analgesic effects through the release of opioid endorphins and serotonin. It is suggested that electro-acupuncture may also be linked to the up-regulation of cell metabolism and tissue repair and facilitate neuro-muscular stimulation and re-education.

Dry Needling is a specific needling technique that is based on neuroanatomy and myofascial trigger point therapy that is used with thin filiform needles without the injection of a solution. Myofascial pain is often associated with trigger points that may present with a painful and fibrotic tight muscle band. In response to needling this trigger point, the patient may experience referred pain and/or a twitch response. There is strong scientific evidence of the effectiveness of using trigger point needling techniques to treat musculoskeletal pain and neuromuscular dysfunction.

When you have a treatment, your practitioner will spend some time doing an evaluation- either a musculoskeletal evaluation or a tongue and pulse evaluation.  They may then do some manual therapies such as cupping or gua sha. Then, you will relax on a treatment table, while the needles are inserted.  Once the needles are in, you will simply take a 30-minute rest.  Your visit to the acupuncturist should be an enjoyable experience, with noticeable benefits as a result.

What People Are Saying About Us

I play senior softball in very competitive leagues. If it wasn't for Lishanna and Solis Acupuncture, I would not be able to participate in sports at the high level I do. I would highly recommend them for treatment and good health maintenance.

L. Gonzales, Scotts Valley

Prior to receiving treatment from Solis, I was unable to improve with physical therapy. After one visit, I noticed significant gains in P.T. This “acupuncture” was the missing link in my recovery. I am now able to work and surf better than before my shoulder injury!

R. Gibson, Scotts Valley

Truly the most significant leaps in my injury’s healing and pain relief. Really the only thing to offer significant help and healing (other than meds) but something I’m most grateful is it allowed me enough healing where I don’t need nearly as much medicinal help. So I’m taking way way less medication. I want to scream from the hilltops. Come to Acupuncture with Jessica at Solis to anyone suffering from back pain.

J. Kunysz, Scotts Valley

I started with acupuncture because I was looking for a healthy long-term alternative to help the pain from my neck and back. Daniele is an emphatic, very professional doctor! Thanks to her and my treatments during the pandemic, I have improved a lot.  Honestly, I am continually impressed how she can connect mind and body with only a simple touch.

E. Omana, Scotts Valley

I was suffering from constant soreness and pain around my tailbone but after having a few sessions of acupuncture, I finally started to feel some relief. It may have reached a point where I won’t get the pain again.

I. Sumano-Vargas, Scotts Valley

Dr. Lishanna is an amazing practitioner! I love her nurturing/psychological-active approach. She is very knowledgeable and has the calm nature to explain. I listened to everything from procedure done.

R. Reyes, Scotts Valley

Could barely walk before starting treatment. Torn ligament in back. But acupuncture got me throughout of it. My husband was truly not a believer in acupuncture. He went to Danielle completely skeptical but now tells everyone that it truly does work.
