Electricacupuncture or "e-stim" sends mild electrical pulses through the skin to help stimulate injured muscles or manipulate nerves to reduce pain. Although electric stimulation is commonly used in physical therapy to constrict muscles and reduce pain, the inclusion of acupuncture needles allows the stimulation to penetrate deeper than if delivered through a superficial patch on the skin. Use simultaneously with acupuncture, e-stim increases the strength of the treatment with regards to pain management and relief.
